Few questions feel as urgent as this one: what does freedom mean today? Stories of Freedom, part of Berlin Freedom Week and the Straße der Demokratie, approaches it with cinematic depth and emotional force.
We curated a programme that travels the globe: from “Rule Breakers” about the Afghan Robotics Team to “Be My Voice” about Masih Alinejad’s fight against forced hijab, from “Kherson: Human Safari” set in Ukraine’s most dangerous city to “Hacking Hate,” an undercover investigation into far-right online spaces. Alongside the films came conversations with activists such as Roya Mahboob, founder of the Afghan Robotics Team, a VR installation and a photo exhibition. Films about protest and oppression, about resilience and transformation.
Stories of Freedom was organised by Starlounge in partnership with Berlin Worx, supported by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, the Heinrich Böll Stiftung and the Bezirksamt Pankow, and curated by The Good Media Network / Doxumentale in partnership with the One World International Human Rights Film Festival.
For us, this is more than a film programme. It is a testament to the power of collective resistance, and proof that we build thematic programmes that move audiences and move them to act.
Do you have an occasion, a theme, or a special week that deserves a thoughtfully curated film programme? Drop us a short email at mail[at]thegoodmedia.net. We'd love to create the perfect programme together with you.
